I have contributed to the creation of more than 50 murals in Chicago and the suburbs; my artwork adorns schools, libraries, train stops, and private buildings.

Mostly a self-taught artist, he attended the Siqueiros Mural Workshop in Cuernavaca in 1977 under Luis Arenal and Roberto Díaz. On a short visit to Chicago in 1978 to attend the international conference on community murals, Duarte became impressed with the vitality of a mural activity and community movement, which was transforming the Mexican neighborhood of Pilsen.
