Shiva has a BA in painting from Tehran University (1966) and a Masters in communication design, from Pratt Institute, New York (1980).
Ghobad Shiva is an Iranian graphic designer and typographer born in 1940 in Hamedan, Iran.
Over several decades he has created a form of graphic design with a Persian flavour, which has attracted museums and collectors across the world. He set up Iranian TV’s graphics department (1968) and the Soroush Press design department (1971), and is co-founder of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS).
He has been teaching and lecturing in eminent art and design faculties in Tehran since 1976. His awards include: Brno Graphic Design Biennale (1978); Shiraz Festival of Arts Poster Competitions (1969, 1970, 1971, 1977); IGDS logo competition (1988, 2001).
He has a design studio and is director of the Ghobad Shiva Art & Cultural Institute. Three books are published on his graphic works: Posters by Ghobad Shiva (2004), Ghobad Shiva graphic designer (2005), Ghobad Shiva in ‘The Selec
